Reimagining Our Campus for Ministry

Across the country and around the globe, churches are experiencing major shifts in attendance patterns, financial realities, staffing models, and cultural expectations. First Church is no exception. 

Our 58,000-square-foot campus is a tremendous gift, but it’s becoming harder to sustain. Stewardship remains faithful and steady, yet giving no longer keeps pace with rising facility and operating costs.

We are not in crisis—but if we want to thrive into the future, we must right-size our physical space with our resources over the nextthree years. 

To help us do that, FUMC formed the Reimagining Space Committee (RSC) to imagine boldly what our physical church space must become for the sake of ministry today and in the decades to come. The committee is discerning one or two recommendations for the Board of Trustees that will align our physical space with the ministry God is calling us to now and in the future.

Join a Conversation with the RSC

The Reimagining Space Committee is hosting 60 to 90-minute sessions to share where we are in our work and hear your hopes and concerns. 

These are not decision-making meetings. Come as you are and share your perspective. What we hear from you will help shape the questions we ask, the decision-making criteria we use, and the concerns we weigh as we do this work.

Sessions are best in person, but online (Zoom) options are available. There are six sessions available: 

• February 22 at 12:00 PM, Fireside
• (February 24 in-person was rescheduled)
• February 24 at 6:30 PM, Zoom
• March 22 at Noon, Room 110
• April 7 at 6:30pm, Fireside
• April 7 at 6:30pm, Zoom
